About Ji-Li Jiang...

Ji-li Jiang was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She left China thirty years ago and studied hotel management at University of Hawaii. Now she lives in East Bay. She writes books for children and gives talks to students around the country, as well as overseas.

The first book she published Red Scarf Girl was about her growing up during the Cultural Revolution when she was 12 years old. Her powerful memoir received many awards including ALA Best Book for Young Adults, ALA Notable Children’s Book, etc. She has published a few more books including some picture books. Her first book in Chinese will be published in China next year.
