Ali and the Board of Directors --sounds like a new rock band!

Maybe not so musical, but you'll get a mid-Rotary-year update on Club activities and plans. Not just required by our bylaws, the club assembly will give you insights into what other club members have been up to while you have been working hard in your own areas of interest and expertise.
Come and celebrate as we Unite for Good.

2026-03-18 00:00:00Z Mar. 17, 2026 Melissa Prandi The International Trip that changed my Life Mar. 18, 2026

Melissa Prandi went on a Rotary international trip for H2OpenDoors while also delivering Save a Girl Hygiene Kits in Uganda. Melissa was so moved by the need to protect and help children and women in Uganda and her life was changed forever. Melissa went home to USA and founded The Melissa Prandi Children Foundation in partnership with Rotarian Ugandans.

The Melissa Prandi Children Foundation empowers impoverished communities in Uganda with educational opportunities, vocational training, microloans and donations of food and crucial supplies. Our mission is to give youth access to quality and higher education. With our “sponsor a student” program, our youth have become the first of their families to graduate from college! Our vocational training centers & microloans empower young women to be economically independent and stable.

2026-04-22 00:00:00Z Apr. 21, 2026 Rachel Curtis-Robles (Almost) everything you never knew you might like to know about mosquitoes Apr. 22, 2026
Rachel will present an overview of the history of mosquito control in San Mateo County (it’s more interesting than you might think!), as well as the District’s current control methods and (no-charge!) services residents can request from the District.
Rachel is an ecologist and infectious disease epidemiologist.  She obtained her undergraduate degree from a small university in Pennsylvania before continuing to the veterinary school at Texas A&M University to complete her PhD.  Rachel’s expertise covers a wide variety of animals and diseases, ranging from how squirrels manage their acorns, to how poison dart frogs avoid being eaten, to collecting samples from coyotes and bobcats in rural Texas.  Her role at the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector District focuses on educating residents about the no-charge services the District offers to everyone living in San Mateo County.

2026-05-20 00:00:00Z May 19, 2026 Garth Illingworth Discoveries from the James Webb Telescope May 20, 2026

Garth Illingworth, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Astronomy and Astrophysics UC Santa Cruz

Garth Illingworth has been exploring for the earliest galaxies in the first 1-2 billion years of the Universe. His early work was on globular clusters and nearby ellipticals, but then with the advent of the powerful instruments on Hubble he transitioned to working on distant galaxies. This search over the last 15-20 years has been enabled by the world's most powerful telescopes, the Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes and the Keck telescope on Mauna Kea. Central to his research has been to use Hubble to look back through 96% of all time to find and measure incredibly faint, young galaxies that are the seeds that have grown into galaxies today, like our Milky Way.
