At this week’s Rotary Club of Menlo Park meeting, members came together to assemble 24 backpacks filled with school supplies for children at Haven House, a shelter for homeless families in San Mateo County. With half the shelter’s residents being kids, this hands-on project helps ensure they start the school year with the tools and confidence they need—another example of Rotary’s commitment to service above self.

This week, instead of a traditional speaker, our club rolled up its sleeves for a hands-on service project—assembling 24 backpacks for students at Haven House, a shelter for homeless families in San Mateo County.

Each backpack is filled with supplies to help children start the school year with confidence and support. With nearly half of Haven House residents being kids, these small gestures make a big impact.

Thanks to our amazing members for your teamwork and compassion—this is service above self in action!

We also kicked off our Every Rotarian Every Year campaign, got updates on upcoming events like TGIW and the summer party at Belle Haven Gardens 🌻, and welcomed a new member to our club 🎉.

Even with a light summer crowd, the heart of Rotary was in full force.
